CUNY Graduate Center student pursuing a Master of Science in Data Analysis and Visualization with interests in data journalism, hip pop and boxing.

Josue Osorio was born and raised in Brooklyn in a Honduran and Puerto Rican household defined by threads of reggaeton tunes, classic championship boxing bouts and delicious meals.

He pursued his undergraduate studies in Economics and Portuguese at Middlebury College, a liberal arts institution that cultivated his appreciation for intersectional studies. During his time, he focused on economic research investigating the implications of American colonialism on Puerto Rico’s development, the impact of the Great Recession on the wealth gap amongst races and the efficacy of education reform on Vermont’s schools.

Upon graduating from Middlebury, Josue started working at American Express as a financial analyst performing fair valuations for non-derivative instruments and products for financial reporting. He then started a new role within American Express supporting the Technology organization with decision support for expenses and headcount.

Now, Josue is pursuing a Master of Science in Data Analysis and Visualization to expand his ever-changing skillset in tools to continue digging into the depths of his curiosity. He is interested in using data to create visualizations to uncover new stories as it pertains to his interests in economics, boxing and hip hop.
